Halo killer? or over-hyped?
|
 |
Story:
Helghaust have started a war in Vekta. They are deploying troops
everywhere and are becoming harder to stop. As an ISA member you must
team up with other members of the group. Missions do seem linear at
times and are challenging at points. The big problem I found was that
when I was in a huge brawl with these Helghaust and could kill one and
wait for my health to regenerate and then kill another. The story mode
however is alright but its not really anything different.Gameplay:
The controls are alright in Killzone but could have been better. By
default your movement is some what fast to aim at someone and using
triangle as reload feels kind of weird. A big problem is that there is
no jumping in this game at all. Not that you need to jump at any time
but when playing multiplayer it could help. It is difficult to kill at
times and it will take awhile even when your aiming right at the guy.
The most fun part when I was going are killing the Helghast was to use
the melee attack. Simply because it seemed to be quicker to kill them
that way. Sniping is one of the coolest parts in this game, yet it can
be difficult to move and when you are during campaign you do not get a
lot of sniping ammo. So aim your shots BOY!

Graphics:
One word, FANTASTIC. This is one of the best looking games I have
ever seen on the PS2 and definitely up there in any game. The setting is
all war like as it is dusty, cloudy, buildings in ruins, and all the
dead Helghausts you have killed lying around. They did a great job
making it feel like there was a war going on.
Sound:
The sound in Killzone is great. Hearing the enemy yelling to attack
and your team yelling for cover. Its all there. Guns sound real and
powerful, including the Helghaust yelling out its last breathe before
they go to the great beyond. Sound is also where this game truly excels
at.
Online:
One of the better reasons to buy this game is the online play.
Offline multiplayer is only 2 players. I do not know why considering
there is a multitap for ps2. Anyways there are different game modes
online. Including a death match which is not unique but fun and some
games forgot to put it in. Such as SOCOM and SOCOM II. This is also one
of the few online first person shooters for PS2 right now, so if your
into some online fun you will like it.

Last Word:
So is it better than Halo? No. However it is a good game. If you own
a PS2 and not an XBOX definitely rent this one or buy it. However if you
have XBOX Halo 2 makes this game look bad.

The Bottom Line: |
|
Gameplay: 7.0 |
| |
Little bit on the shaky side. Tough to aim and kill
at times. |
|
Graphics: 10 |
| |
Best looking on the PS2. Really makes its feel like
your in war |
|
Sound: 8.5 |
| |
Sounds like your really in war, Helghaust yelling
to attack and the sound of bullets whizzing by. |
|
Depth: 7.0 |
| |
Good campaign mode and multiplayer, but with not
that great of a gameplay its not really worth it. |
|
Overall: 7.1 |
